What is a Trinary Star System?

A trinary star system is a system consisting of three or more stars that appear to be close to one another from the Earth. Usually, this may be as a result of stars being close to one another physically and gravitationally.
In other words, if you observe the stars from the planet Earth, they appear to be close to one another, as they seem to occupy the same point in the sky, but in real life, they are sparsely located from each other.
In most cases, multiple star systems contain triple star systems, which means more than four components are less likely to occur within the system.
And surprisingly, this trinary star system is even smaller than star clusters, which contain up to 1,000 stars. However, for significant multiplicities, the number of known systems with given quantities should be able to decrease exponentially upon multiplication.

Are there any trinary star systems?
The trinary system can be divided into two distinct classes: hierarchical systems and physical star systems.
In hierarchical systems, the stars are stable and contained in nested orbits, which means there is not much interaction, so each hierarchical level is treated as a Two-body problem. This results from unstable interaction between the realms and the motion of stars that continue to stabilize with time.
These systems consist of more than three stars. These can be divided further into smaller subgroups that are hierarchical themselves.
Meanwhile, in a physical triple star system, the star orbits in a trinary star system orbits. Usually, you’ll observe two of the stars form a close binary system with the third one orbiting a bit far from the binary realm.
The main reason behind this phenomenon is the comparable sizes between the inner and outer orbits, leading to the ejection of a star from the system.
However, not all triple star systems are gravitationally-bound, and such include a physical binary star and a purely optical triple star system.

For many years now, the planet has been known to be a quadruple star system, consisting of only three stars. However, things have recently changed: in the year 2013. The first four-star planet, KIC 4862625, was discovered by citizen scientists with the help of public data from NASA’s Kepler mission.
Besides, the latest discoveries suggested that quadruple star systems are likely to be rarer than thought earlier. Recent research has proven this type of star system, to contain two pairs of twin stars, which are circling each other at great distances slowly.
There has been a drastic improvement in the observational techniques from the previous estimates. This has proven our solar system to contain about four percent of the quadruple stars.

The planet Earth is found in the Virgo Supercluster of galaxies. A supercluster is an assemblage of galaxies held together by gravity.
The planet earth is a subgroup of galaxies known as the Local Group, which is the second-largest among all the universes.
Within the Local Group, there is the Milky Way – a large spiral galaxy where the Earth is located.
The Milky Way covers about two-thirds of the way out from the center of the universe, including the several comets and asteroids and dwarf planets surrounding the sun.
